The Expanders começaram a tocar música reggae juntos no verão de 2003, e hoje são uma das bandas de reggae mais respeitadas e mais trabalhadoras no sul da Califórnia . Eles passaram a ser conhecidos por seu estilo vintage " rockers " do reggae, jogado na tradição dos clássicos dos anos 70 , como grupos jamaicanos The Ethiopians , culture, Mighty Diamonds , etc Sua música enfatiza três partes harmonias vocais e forte escrita da canção . Além de realizar o seu próprio material original e scorchers jamaicanos raros, desde 2006 os expansores foram a banda de apoio de escolha para lendários cantores jamaicanos quando eles vêm para a Califórnia para realizar shows , tendo apoiado artistas clássicos como Alton Ellis , The Maytones , The Ethiopians , The Wailing Souls , e muitos mais.
